BUILDTETHER LEGAL

Privacy Policy

Last updated September 12, 2026

1. Information we collect

BuildTether collects account identifiers such as your name and email, company and project information, rooms, notes, selections, uploaded plans, photos and documents, Team Member submissions, time-clock records, support requests and subscription status. We also collect limited product-usage information such as anonymous page visits, button activity and room QR scans. Payment card details are handled by our payment processor and are not stored in BuildTether’s project database.

2. Jobsite location privacy

When the time-clock feature is used, BuildTether requests one location reading only when an employee actively submits a clock-in or clock-out. BuildTether does not continuously track a device, create movement history, use perimeter tracking in the background or collect off-duty location.

3. How information is used

We use information to operate and secure the service, display current project details to authorized people, process project contributions, provide time records, measure account storage, understand which BuildTether features are useful, support customers, prevent abuse and manage trials and subscriptions. BuildTether’s internal usage overview uses a random browser identifier and does not intentionally store visitor names, precise locations or IP addresses.

4. AI-assisted features

AI processing occurs only when a user chooses an AI-assisted feature. Depending on the feature, BuildTether may send selected plans, estimates, supplier orders, model numbers, contractor instructions, room names, approved field records or a voice recording to our AI service provider to prepare an editable draft. This supports Project Builder, manufacturer-document lookup, Smart Field Notes, Field Camera, the Living Schedule and window-and-door order review. Field Camera sends the spoken recording for transcription and uses photo capture times—not the photo pixels themselves—to match the transcript to the selected pictures and rooms. BuildTether requests non-persistent response processing, does not use customer project content to train a BuildTether general-purpose AI model, and removes temporary AI file uploads after the applicable analysis request finishes. AI output can be incomplete or incorrect. Nothing is approved for construction merely because AI prepared it; the contractor remains responsible for reviewing the stamped plans, revisions, approved submittals, manufacturer instructions, codes and field conditions.

5. Sharing and visibility

Contractors control whether project content is visible through a field QR page, to the project team, to an owner or client, or only to the contractor. Public room QR links should be posted and shared carefully. We may use service providers for hosting, file storage, delivery of secure sign-in emails, AI-assisted document processing and payment processing. We do not sell personal information.

6. Retention and deletion

Project information is retained while an account is active. After paid access ends, the workspace is available read-only for 30 days for review and export, and project content is retained for up to 90 days for reactivation. After that retention period, content may be permanently deleted following reasonable advance notice. An authenticated user can request earlier account deletion from Account settings. We verify deletion requests before removing account data and may retain limited records when required for security, payment, dispute or legal obligations.

7. Security

BuildTether uses one-time emailed sign-in links, short-lived hashed login tokens, protected browser sessions, server-side ownership checks and encrypted network connections. No service can guarantee absolute security, so customers should avoid uploading information that is not needed for project coordination.

8. Children

BuildTether is a business service and is not directed to children under 13.

9. Contact and changes

Privacy questions can be sent to support@buildthreadapp.com. We may update this policy as BuildTether adds features or service providers. Material changes will be reflected by the date above.
