BUILDTETHER LEGAL

Terms of Service

Last updated September 12, 2026

1. The service

BuildTether provides project-specific QR pages, plans, photos, notes, selections, Team Member tools and time records for construction teams. BuildTether is an information and coordination service; it does not replace contracts, approved construction documents, code requirements, inspections or professional judgment.

2. Accounts

BuildTether accounts use secure one-time links sent to the user’s verified email address. No OpenAI or ChatGPT account is required. You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information, for protecting access to your email and devices, and for activity performed through your account. Contractors control project membership and content visibility. Do not give an employee PIN, sign-in link or protected project access to an unauthorized person.

3. Trials, billing and subscriptions

Free independent QR tools require an account but no payment card or management subscription. Eligible new management accounts receive one 30-day trial after providing a payment card and completing Stripe checkout. Merely creating an account does not start the trial. The chosen price and first billing date are disclosed before confirmation. Cancel in Account before the trial ends to avoid the first subscription charge. Existing beta trials retain their previously granted end dates. During the public beta, companies may subscribe at the advertised launch price for any available company-capacity tier. The price for the selected tier remains available while that subscription stays continuously active. Plans are priced according to their published active-project, management-user, employee and storage allowances. Prices shown at checkout exclude any applicable taxes. After the trial, a subscription automatically renews for the selected monthly or annual period using the payment method provided to Stripe until canceled. You can cancel from Account settings or manage billing through Stripe. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period, stops future renewal and does not remove access to time already paid for. Amounts already paid are not ordinarily refundable except where required by law.

4. Customer content

You retain ownership of plans, photos, notes and other material you upload. You grant BuildTether the limited right to store, process, display and transmit that content solely to operate the service. You confirm that you have permission to upload and share the content and that it does not violate law or another person’s rights. Manufacturer manuals, specification sheets and linked websites remain the property of their respective owners; you are responsible for using and sharing them lawfully.

5. BuildTether intellectual property

BuildTether and its licensors retain their rights in the service, including its original source code, interface text and graphics, documentation, branding and other protectable material. These terms do not transfer ownership of BuildTether to you. Except as allowed by law, you may not copy, sell, sublicense, scrape, reverse engineer or create a competing service from protected portions of BuildTether. Third-party software and content remain subject to their own licenses and rights.

6. AI-assisted features

AI-assisted features may organize plans, suggest room assignments, locate possible manufacturer documents, draft field notes and photo captions, prepare or revise a Living Schedule, or compare a supplier order with project documents. AI output is a review draft and may be incomplete or incorrect. The subscriber must make every final selection, approval, schedule decision, order decision and construction decision. BuildTether does not provide architectural, engineering, legal, code-compliance, safety or other licensed professional advice.

7. Acceptable use

Do not use BuildTether to distribute malware, access another company’s data, bypass security, misrepresent time records, infringe intellectual property or store unlawful content. We may restrict access when necessary to protect customers, the service or the public.

8. Project responsibility

Users must verify that displayed plans, dimensions, fixture heights, selections, manufacturer documents and instructions are current before relying on them. Contractors remain responsible for jobsite safety, supervision, payroll compliance, employment practices, field measurements, procurement, scheduling and construction decisions.

9. Feedback

If you voluntarily send product feedback or suggestions, you allow BuildTether to use them to improve the service without payment or obligation. This does not give BuildTether ownership of your project content, company information or confidential materials.

10. Availability and changes

We work to keep BuildTether reliable but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Beta features may change as the product develops. We will take reasonable steps to preserve customer information and provide notice when a material change affects paid use.

11. Warranty and liability

To the extent permitted by law, BuildTether is provided without implied warranties and is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses. Any direct liability relating to the service is limited to amounts paid for BuildTether during the preceding 12 months.

12. Termination and export

After paid access ends, the workspace is placed in read-only mode for 30 days so you can review and export project information. Project content is retained for up to 90 days after access ends to allow reactivation, after which it may be permanently deleted following reasonable advance notice. You may request earlier account deletion through Account settings. Before deletion, download any records you are required to retain. Limited billing, security or legal records may be kept where required. We may suspend an account for nonpayment, misuse or a serious security risk.
